Description

Rastlos Krieger

Age at death: 40. Died 1917.
Height: 5'2"
Weight: 170lb

Brief History:
Krieger was a German general who died during World War 1 but an experimental, weaponized, zombie virus reanimated him on the field of battle. Out of the hundreds infected with the zombie virus, Krieger was the only one who retained the full scope of his intelligence and memories. This among other things convinced him that he was "special" and that some higher power had plans for him. He believed that fate had chosen him / saved him / transformed him in order to play an important role during some future event. From then on, he traveled the world, going wherever the winds took him (so to speak), searching for his destiny, partaking in many adventures and battles along the way. In the most recent forty years, he has traveled alongside his partner Banger, assisting him in dozens of wild treasure hunts and tomb raiding expeditions.
After a hundred years of searching, however, he grows weary of his quest and wonders when fate will reveal its master plan to him.

Personality:
Krieger is stern, smart, grim, level headed, and direct. Everything he does he does with a purpose in mind. As such, he's a very minimalist speaker and doesn't chatter aimlessly. He's cold hearted, but not heartless.
His mind has always been his greatest asset. He's a fast, strategic thinker who knows how to read people's emotions, intentions, and weaknesses. Combining this with his lack of empathy decades of fighting experience makes him a very brutal, dishonest, and more than anything effective fighter.
Underneath his stony exterior, he's a weary, old soul. Few things surprise or excite him anymore.
He looks down on people who are reckless, overconfident, and arrogant.

Physique:
The zombie virus which reanimated Krieger was designed to create the perfect super-soldier. Krieger can feel no pain, nor does he need any vital organs other than his brain to function. His black blood is highly infectious but the virus cannot withstand environmental conditions outside the body for long. Krieger's build is preserved in such a way that his muscles cannot grow but cannot deteriorate: as such his attributes of strength and speed are locked in place approximately equal to that of a rather fit, but non-extraordinary, average human. A professional boxer, for instance, will be able to punch harder and faster than him with ease. Unlike a living, human boxer, however, Krieger does not tire, and can fight indefinitely under the harshest of conditions.
Note: unlike Banger, his zombie abilities are grounded in science. He cannot control dismembered limbs, nor can re-attach them without assistance of a surgeon. Much of his body has actually been spliced together from other corpses, as he has had to replace damaged parts over the years.
Brain damage will kill him for good.

Weaponry:
Krieger carries with him, at all times, a well maintained German luger (eight round clip, but he keeps one bullet chambered), five clips of ammo, a box of ammo, three pineapple grenades, a spare grenade pin, a tube of super glue, and a cutlass (taken during one of his adventures with Banger).
Krieger is a crack shot and quick to aim. He could shoot five men dead in the forehead within a room in half as many seconds. Naturally though, the pistol isn't great over long distances. Krieger is incredibly experienced with his cutlass. Again, due to his physique he won't be able to overpower someone, but his technique is top notch: he knows exactly when to block, stab, swing, and lead his opponent into exposing a weakness. Same can be said about his hand to hand skills.
One must always remember that he's a practical fighter: if you run at him with a sword, he'll attempt to shoot you in the head or knee long before drawing his own blade.

Fighting Style:
In a sentence: the grand master of sucker punch tactics. He knows every dirty trick in the book and has written a few chapters of his own to accommodate his zombie abilities. Krieger doesn't fight fair or honorably. He looks for the fastest, most efficient way of taking an opponent out, often coming across as brutal and vicious. He will exploit every weakness, every hesitation, every character flaw he can find in an opponent. Krieger likes to plan ahead and research his opponent beforehand, but he largely thinks on his feet, implementing spur-of-the-moment tricks to distract or expose his opponent and then hit them hard and fast where it hurts. A decade of experience has molded him into a combat genius.
Again, however, he's cold but not heartless. Drawing innocent bystanders into the conflict (such as using hostages) is where he draws the line. Unless pre-established as a overall bad guy, Krieger will seek to incapacitate rather than kill an opponent off the bat. That's fast to change, however, if the tide of the fight turns against him.
Rarely speaks during combat.
Note: Krieger is right handed, but reserves it for his sword, so he shoots with his left.

Weaknesses:
He cannot match the speed and strength of most professional fighters. His brutal tactics and monster-like complexion will likely lead people to believe him a villain. Very much a traditionalist; has difficulties with new technology. Wounds cannot heal, needs limb replacement.
Yeah. That's kind of it. Hey, he didn't survive a decade of wars and tomb raiding thanks to luck alone. Remember though, he's hardly indestructible. Get the jump on him, hit him over the head with a brick, and he'll die as easily as the next man.

Banger

Age at death: 28. Died 1923.
Height: 5'3"
Weight: 90lb

Brief History:
Fought in WW1 with the French air-force. After the war, Banger turned towards tomb raiding and treasure hunting. During one such raid on en Egyptian tomb, a curse threatened to turn him into a zombified slave but Banger managed to utter a counter-curse before its completion. This left him a mummified corpse but allowed him to retain his indigence and free will. Since then, Banger has continued his escapades unhindered, constantly seeking new and ever more exciting adventures.
As the years have dragged on, however, adventures to be had have become scarce.

Personality:
Chipper, talkative, excitable, talkative, optimistic, and talkative. Banger is at heart an adrenaline junkie, searching for new highs to experience, and nothing does that for him like the bar fights, shootouts, boulder runs, dog fights, trap dodging, and clue deciphering that come with treasure hunting. Even in the face of death he remains lively and optimistic. Always looking for someone willing (or even unwilling) to listen to his tales of past adventures.
Banger is quick to stereotype and discriminate. He's very set in his ways and efforts to change his mind or view are often met with a flat out refusal to conform. Once someone gets to know him, it becomes apparent that he doesn't care about anyone besides himself and probably Krieger. As such, he has no qualms with hurting someone if they stand in his way.

Physique:
As a cursed zombie, Banger receives the benefits most species of zombies get and plus some. As such, he can feel no pain, can survive without most of his vital organs, and has infinite stamina. Unlike most zombies, Banger is very literally just skin and bones: his muscles have dried up to the point of near-uselessness. He is telepathically linked with his body parts and it's presumably the magic of the curse which allows him to move them. Because of this, he is still able to control body parts even when they are severed. Realizing the usefulness of this, surgery was performed to install six couplers in his body: two between his wrists and forearms, two between his shoulders and biceps, one in his waist and one in his neck. This allows him to detach and reattach these body parts at will (the triggers for the clasps are fused to strands of muscle). Since his entire body is numb, however, his limbs become difficult to control when they exit his field of vision, as he'll have no idea if they're doing what he's telling them to do. For example, if he sends his legs for a jog while the rest of him stays at home, they will jog blindly, but he'll have no way of telling if they've fallen into a ditch.
Note: Though it oft fits his state of mind quite well, he isn't grinning. His taught, dried skin is simply stuck that way.
Since he doesn't need fluids, he's usually able to fix up injuries with super glue.
Banger's affliction is not contagious.
Presumably, brain damage will put him down for good.

Items:
Banger's weapons of choice: two mini uzis. Otherwise, he usually only carries ten spare uzi clips, a box of ammo, two pineapple grenades, a 100ft piece of rope, a grappling hook, a tube of super glue, and a small parachute with him.

Fighting Style:
If it bleeds when you shoot it, make it bleed some more. Banger doesn't implement as much finesse as Krieger, resorting to a certain degree of "spray and pray" when fighting. On his own, his tactics are somewhat reckless. He relies heavily on rush tactics, not giving his opponents enough time to react to his attacks. When brute force and chutzpa won't work, he resorts to wild and creative attacks that utilize his ability to control his dismembered limbs, which often catch enemies off guard.
When fighting with Krieger, however, his capabilities are greatly enhanced. Over the years fighting side by side, the two of them have learned exactly how the other functions during combat and sync their fighting styles to great effect. They have formulated dozens of combo attacks, which they signal to each other with a code word or even a look.

Important note: Banger talks while he fights but this rarely effects his ability to do so. After careful teaching under Krieger, Banger has learned to avoid most of the pitfalls that come from monologuing during combat, such as revealing weaknesses, revealing the rules of one's abilities, and distracting one's-self from the fight.

Weaknesses:
Banger's big mouth often lands him in trouble. His ego and brashness sometimes lead him to bite off more than he can chew. Dismembered limbs are imprecise to control when not in Banger's field of view. His dry bones are relatively brittle. Has difficulties with new technology (unless it goes fast or makes explosions. He'll get behind that in a heartbeat).

Their Relationship:
In 1985, Banger's and Krieger's paths crossed. Krieger had been hired to assassinate Banger for a corporation of black market antique dealers, but Banger ended up inadvertently saving Krieger's life. Krieger took this, among other things, as a sign that fate wanted him to join up with Banger. His experimentation with other, mortal sidekicks having resulted in disaster, Banger eagerly accepted a partnership with a fellow zombie. Since then, they've raided over a dozen tombs, temples, and lost cities together. Krieger has learned to tune out Banger's ramblings and filter out useful information, while Banger has been more than willing to compensate for his partner's quietness. Banger has been the driving force of the operation, deciding what leads to pursue and what treasures to hunt next, while Krieger keeps Banger's schemes grounded. They've formed a strong alliance over the years and know each other inside and out.

Creator's note: Krieger's mouth is not sewn shut. Those are wrinkles where is withered skin all but sinks into the gaps in his teeth. Easy to mix up with my style, especially since he does has stitches elsewhere, but I think it looks nice.

Y'know, I can't help but think of all the potential hilarity should these two encounter Krai and Nina, I mean she's been spending almost her entire life building up to this, she'd jump at the chance to fight some zombies...
